Water Wrap

I made something tonight we have needed for awhile now. When Jessie plays her basketball games, each member of her team has a bottle of water. The girls have tried labeling their waters, but it always seems to rub off and the water is warm by the end of the game.


I used two different fabrics (the other side is an aqua color with white polka dots) and put a layer of insulated batting between them. Hopefully this will keep her water cold and she will be able to instantly be able to tell which water on the floor is hers. I used velcro for the closure. It is reversible. It was so simple, I feel bad it took me so long to get it done! Any bets on how long it takes her to lose it? I think I will make a few extra!

Look What I Found....

I went to a thrift store I don't visit much. Jessie had a basketball game near this one on Saturday. I dropped her off (they have to be there 45 minutes before the game) and went across the street.


Yeah! A wonderful Fire-King 4 cup measuring cup in great condition! I have a collection of measuring cups, of all different sizes, shapes, vintage and new, but I didn't have one of these! I don't even know how I started collecting measuring cups. They sure came in handy for my daughter's wedding though, with all the cooking and baking! I don't keep them just for display, we use them all the time!

Every time I get a new one it is my favorite. $2.99 Thrill. Priceless!

A Completed Project

I finally finished a project that I started in December. I had the two smaller frames done before Christmas, and I just finished the large one today. I have these hanging in the hallway leading to the boy's TV room. (The boys no longer live here, haven't in years, but it is still know as the boys TV room)

I had everything around the house except for the letter F. I purchased that from Michaels. The small frames have scrapbooking paper in the frames and the larger one has fabric. I left the glass in the frames and mounted some small plaques that have sayings on them. (on clearance from the scrapbooking dept at Michaels last fall) I painted the plaques with black paint and distressed them, but I need to distress a little more. It is hard to make out the words on the plaques. One of them says BLESSED and the other says HAPPINESS.

I am not sure about the placement of them. I was trusting the judgement of a 13 year old, while my arms ached placing them in different positions. I am going to live with it this way for a little bit and see what I think.

And here is a picture of Jessie making fun of me for 1) taking pictures of them and 2) for staring at them to see if I liked them on the wall that way.
I am off to distress the little plaques before I forget about it and then I am hopefully going up to the sewing room.

A Gift for Amber

A friend of mine gave me her Nancy Drew books from when she was little. These are a gift to my daughter Amber, who is a big Nancy Drew fan.



I was telling her how I wanted to make a little purse out of a Nancy Drew book for Amber and she offered up her whole collection. Now I don't know if I should do that with one of the books. It is so different when you buy a book at a thrift store and you don't know who owned it. These books all have her name in them and at least one of them has her Mom's handwriting and the date it was given to my friend.

I think I should just leave these intact.

This and That

Not much happening in the craft and sewing world here. It has been basketball practice, basketball scrimmage, basketball games. I did do a little thrifting before a basketball scrimmage. I found this wonderful milk glass vase for my collection! Yeah! I don't have one like this and my heart went thumpty....thump.....thump when I saw it. A lot of excitement for mere price of $1.99.

Beautiful! I have been searching for one of these for a long time! I also found a package of fabric for .99. The little pink rose fabric was on top of the package and I loved it! It didn't matter what else was in there, I needed the pink rose fabric for a quilt I want to make!


It's hard to tell in the photo, but the fabric has a white background with tiny pink roses.




It was hard to tell how much there was in the package. When I got home and opened it up there was at least a 1/2 yard of five different fabrics. The rose fabric, ladybug fabric, lime green linen fabric, cute duck fabric and white linen fabric. I had no idea what I would do with the rest of it.

Jessie is taking voice lessons this semester and she came home from her first session with a note from the teacher saying she needed one of these:

I didn't want her just throwing it in her bag and getting it all scratched up, so I took my camera case/mini wallet pattern and made it a little larger. I had a use for the ladybug fabric! (I could actually make about 20 more with this fabric.)


It is big enough to hold the recorder and a couple of tapes. See it is a good thing I bought that fabric!!

A New Love!

Santa brought the most wonderful thing this Christmas. I think I could eat the whole bag at one sitting. It is a good thing these are not cheap, because I would eat these EVERY DAY!!

Starbucks Milk Chocolate Covered Coffee Beans!

Anyone who is related to me should take note of this post and make sure I receive plenty for all Holiday's!! I am too cheap to buy them myself, well at least for a week or so.............I may need to make a trip to Walmart soon! I wonder what a case of these would cost?? Buy in Bulk? I know they would'nt go to waste!!

Busy cleaning up from Christmas & New Year's. I do have some sewing projects to show soon!
