Christmas Crafting

I have been busy with Christmas shopping and decorating, but I did do some crafty things. I created this Christmas wreath for our half bath. Not the best job in the world, but it adds the holiday feel to the room. The poinsettia leaves are pale pink and have glitter on them. I wound a white glittery garland around the leaves. I don't think you can tell, but the ribbon has polka dots(love polka dots) and an iridescent wire edge. I secured it to the wall with a piece of ribbon and a beautiful rhinestone button that my Mom bought me. The camera can't capture the sparkly, I know it can't possible be the photographer!! See that pretty button! I collect these. I love rhinestone buttons! I hunt them down in thrift stores!

I finished up the black frames I had been painting. This idea has been all over the internet and I decided to be a copycat! I put some scrapbook paper in the frames and then on top of the glass I glued some metal signs that I found on clearance at Michael's. I am going to put these in the hallway by the boy's bathroom. I really like the way they turned out.

I will get a better picture once I have them hung up. Hubby has to add the picture hangers!

Gotta start wrapping!

One last thought! Jessie has gotten me into "Gilmore Girls". I remember Amber watching them when they were new, and she was obsessed with them! I am now obsessed with them! Hubby bought me season 1 and 2 for my birthday this year. I just now found out they are only $15.00 for a season at Walmart. I thought they were more like $40 - $50 for a season. I would have given season 3,4,5,6, and 7 out on my Christmas Wish List! Bummer! Well at least my Birthday is in March!

Christmas Gone Wrong

I managed to get the Christmas tree up in the living room on Saturday night. I am still missing the garland. It is M.I.A.! I agree with all fellow bloggers as to how hard it is to capture the beauty of the Christmas decorations!

Looks nice and festive! There is only one problem. This picture was taken from the kitchen hallway. It is to the right. Look at what is to the left...................

I need to get busy on fixing that!

I would also like to apologize to all my thanksgiving guests for the lack of fall decor. I was looking back at previous year photos

Believe me when I say my table looked nothing like it did from the 2007 picture!

Time to get rid of the skull!

Devil Dress Makeover Completed

Remember this Devil dress? Well I am finished with my makeover! She actually wore it to the dance tonight. I think it turned out good. Here it is:

You can't see it very well but there is a little bit of tulle showing at the hemline. A close up of the sequined top:

It was fairly simple to do. The hardest part was finding the old pattern pieces to create the new pattern, and adding the tulle to the lining. Jessie didn't like standing still. The new bottom part of the dress is made from a Faux Dupioni Silk fabric.

Last year I had purchased a Faux Dupioni Silk tablecloth from Walmart. Love this tablecloth! But I knew I wanted to be on the steps of Walmart for the 75% off sale the day after Christmas to get more of this - for my fabric stash. I actually had planned on making a skirt or dress for me, for this Christmas but that didn't happen. I purchased 3 of the largest tablecloths they had for $3.00 a piece. I am so glad I did! This year the color they have is more of a burgundy. Just love this red! The only thing I had to buy was the tulle for the bottom of the dress.

Here is a picture of Jessie and some friends before they headed out to the dance. Aren't they cute!

Now I have to get this house decorated for Christmas!

Busy Time of Year!

It is such a busy time of year! Thanksgiving and rushing into Christmas. Hubby and I have been sick with the crud for the last week. That really slows us down. I am still working on some projects. I painted some silver frames black. Notice: I am again using the kitchen counter again. Believe it or not I do use my kitchen counter for cooking - everyday. It is my incentive to clean the kitchen, so I can use the counter for crafting.

I am also in the process of making this old Halloween costume - the devil dress - into a Christmas Dance dress for Jessie. I made this for her two years ago. I hope it comes out good! We do have a dress for backup purposes. The dance is this Friday.

Gotta get busy on the dress!

Glitter, Glitter, Everywhere!!

I have been doing a few Christmas projects around here. I had these white candy cane ornaments that I have been wanting to glitter up and replace the hangers with white ribbon. I only managed to get six of them done last night. Only twelve more to go! I like them so much better than just the plain white and when they are on the tree they will sparkle, sparkle, sparkle!

Hubby hates glitter! He thinks it should be outlawed! You find it for years after a project and that bugs the *@#* out of him! I guess it doesn't help that I do my glittering on the kitchen counter!

Be back soon!
